Old Coast Guard Station

The Surf and Rescue museum pays tribute to the seamen of the many Coast Guard Life Saving Stations once located up and down the Virginia Shore Line.  It is both a Virginia Historic Landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places.  It is the only existing station in Virginia that is open to the public.  Visit for more information about this interesting part of Virginia Beach history.

The Coast Guard Station at Little Island (located south of Sandbridge and owned by the City of Virginia Beach) is another such station.  Although the Little Island Station is not open to the public, it is listed on the local Historic Register.
