FRANCIS LAND HOUSE FALL 2007 CALENDAR OF EVENTS ______________________________________________________________ November 10, 2007 – War of 1812 Living History 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Come out and visit with members of the 2nd Virginia Regiment and learn what it was like to be a soldier during the War of 1812. Camp life and firing of muskets will be demonstrated. Watch a war gaming scenario using miniature soldiers from the Napoleonic period. Free admission to program. Fee for house tours.
_____________________________________________________________ December 15, 2007 – “Christmas of Long Ago” 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Discover the Christmas traditions of Virginia children 200 years. Enjoy a reading of “A Visit by St. Nicholas” or its more well-known title, “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” Make a holiday sachet bag to take home. Listen to period Christmas music and play with some toys and games of long ago. View the rooms of the house decorated for the holidays by the Virginia Beach Garden Clubs. $2.00 ages six and above; free for children under 6 and members ____________________________________________________________ January 6, 2008 – “Twelfth Night” 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Join us for a night of 18th- century holiday celebration. Tour the house and catch a glimpse of the past as the Land family ready themselves for the celebration. Enjoy colonial style dancing with the Williamsburg Heritage Dancers and listen to the sounds of The Itinerant Band. Have a piece of Twelfth Night cake and toss some greens into the bonfire for good luck. Space is limited and advance reservations are required. $6.00 for members; $7.50 for non-members.
