Welcome to the official web site of the

SAVE THE DATE for our next program Sunday March 10th at 2:30 THE WORLD OF THE NIMMO FAMILY The "Nimmo" name is familiar to most area residents in association with the United Methodist church at the intersection of Princess Anne Road and General Booth Boulevard, which since its origins as a congregation in 1791 has served not only as a house of worship but also as a reference point for travelers, as a gathering place for political rallies in the nineteenth century, and as a shelter for yankee horses during the Civil War. The family which bears that name and provided land for the original church structure was in fact active and prominent in Princess Anne County over many generations. On Sunday, March 10th the Princess Anne County/Virginia Beach Historical Society will meet in the Nimmo Church sanctuary (2200 Princess Anne Road) at 2:30 p.m. for a program which will feature a presentation by Jennifer Brown Estes on the interaction of generations of Nimmos with their community.
